CIBSE IBPSA England Technical Symposium 2025

IBPSA-England is pleased to announce its partnership with CIBSE in organising the joint conference, CIBSE IBPSA Technical Symposium 2025.
Fit for 2050 - Achieving Net-Zero through Intelligent, Resilient, and Sustainable Design in the Built Environment.
As we look toward the future, the 2025 theme emphasizes the critical need to design and develop buildings and infrastructure that are not only intelligent and resilient but also sustainable, aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
We invite submissions of short abstracts for research or opinion papers, technical reviews, case studies, and poster presentations. Submissions should be based on recent or current project work, research, or application, and may also examine the actual or potential impacts of our work on the built environment.
This year’s review panel will invite papers on:
- Addressing the transition to net-zero carbon through improved circular thinking, retrofitting, and decarbonising buildings while considering the effects on occupants’ health and well-being.
- Design strategies for achieving climate resilience in the built environment. Including flood resilience, façade design, sustainable cooling approaches, overheating mitigation methods and nature-based solutions.
- Applications of AI, machine learning, and parametric design to enhance energy efficiency and system flexibility, occupant comfort, and the longevity and security of building systems.
- Learnings from operations, building performance assessments, case studies and post occupancy evaluations to optimise future design approaches.
- Building and urban performance simulation studies, and applications, to mitigate the climate change challenges on occupants’ health and wellbeing
- Building and urban optimization testing frameworks.
- Educational frameworks that integrate building and urban performance in Curricula.
- Design and retrofit optimisation
Submissions for abstracts will be accepted until 17:00 BST on Thursday 15 August.
How to Submit
Please use the online form to submit your 250 word abstract for your proposed research or opinion paper, technical review, case study or poster presentation. All applicants will be contacted by the 6 September 2024 and invited to submit their full submission by the 1 November 2024 if successful.
